Neurodivergent Friendly
Our practice is committed to being a neurodivergent-friendly space, meaning we welcome and accommodate individuals whose brains function in ways that diverge from the typical, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurotypes.
We recognise that traditional therapy models may not always suit neurodivergent clients, so we tailor our approach to honour different ways of thinking, feeling, and processing the world. This means offering a flexible, judgment-free environment, adapting communication styles, and respecting sensory needs and unique coping mechanisms.
Whether it’s providing structure, incorporating special interests into therapy, or adjusting for different modes of expression, we aim to create a space where neurodivergent clients feel genuinely understood and supported.
Celebrating uniqueness.
While a neurodivergent client may seek therapy for a variety of reasons, sometimes unrelated to their neurodivergence, this aspect of their identity often underlies at least some of their challenges. Many neurodivergent individuals have grown up in environments that failed to recognise or support their differences, leaving them feeling misunderstood, pressured to conform, or even diagnosed with a "disorder" that pathologised their natural way of thinking and experiencing the world.

For those who masked their neurodivergence to fit societal expectations, this lifelong adaptation can lead to deep emotional distress, disconnection, and burnout. Even those who received recognition and support often found themselves having to conform to rigid structures, rather than environments adapting to their needs. The impact of being misunderstood, unsupported, or conditioned to suppress one's authentic self can result in low self-esteem, shame, anxiety, and distrust towards oneself and others.

Therapy provides a space where neurodivergent individuals can be fully seen, accepted, and valued without pressure to conform. Our approach prioritises understanding each client’s unique experience of the world, focusing on strengths as well as challenges. A trusting therapeutic relationship, built on equality and respect, allows clients to begin unmasking and exploring their true selves in a safe and validating environment. Practical accommodations - such as adjusting communication styles, offering flexible session structures, and providing information in various formats - ensure therapy meets each person’s specific needs. Additionally, for those exploring formal diagnosis, we offer support in navigating the process while recognising that a diagnosis is a personal choice, not a requirement for self-understanding or growth.

At its core, our neurodivergent-friendly therapy is about creating an affirming space where clients can develop confidence, autonomy, and self-acceptance - without being forced to fit into a one-size-fits-all model.
